Many people are under the illusion that a frog will need minimal attention, but this is not always the case. A frog can live for a very long time, so if you are considering buying a frog, you need to be prepared to care for it. Frogs need constant feeding and their behaviour does vary, so you need to do some research on each specific frog that you are considering.

Many frogs eat live insects and even mice, so you need to find out about the diet of a frog beforehand. Some frogs hibernate during the winter months, and many others do not. Some frogs can live in water, whereas others prefer it dry. Some live in trees and others on the ground. There are a great variety of different frogs, so choosing a particular one can be difficult. You will want to do all your research prior to looking in the pet shop, as the needs and habitats of each frog can vary highly.

There are eight species of guinea pigs, although only one kind is widely kept as a pet. Domestic guinea pigs are very popular pets, and can be sociable and good-natured. With their cute little faces and active lifestyles, a guinea pig can often be very hard to resist. They remain relatively small even as fully matured, and have a life span typically between four and seven years.

Guinea pigs can be kept both outside and inside, and the decision is based primarily on the abode that you give them. You will need to buy a cage or a hutch for the animal to live in, which needs to be comfortable and provide everything that it would need. The flooring of the cage will need to be comfortable as well as practical and should be able to soak up urine. Wood shavings are popular, but need to be relatively large so they do not irritate the guinea pig’s eyes. You will also need to provide some form of nesting material for your pet, which can be large amounts of hay or wood shavings. The guinea pig will use this as a bed, as well as for eating, so it needs to be clean and soft.

Your guinea pig will need constant access to water, so you will need to ensure that you get it a water bottle. This is generally attached to the side of the hatch at a level that the animal can easily reach. If possible you can supply two water bottles in the cage in case one should leak or break. A food bowl should be inside the hatch or cage and should be relatively heavy so that it does not get tipped over.

Your guinea pig will occasionally want to run around in the grass. If its cage is not set in the grass, then it is possible to buy a guinea pig run which will allow your pet to run around and get some exercise. Toys can also be purchased for your pet, and as long as it has the essentials you will be welcoming a happy new member into the family.
