Dogs

When it comes to miniature dogs in general, it seems like they are most of a fashion accessory than an actual animal. The celebrities have taken to owning not just one little dog, but they seem to own herds of them! In this article, we will explore some of the most popular breeds for miniature dogs and just how to take care of them.

First and foremost, some of the most popular miniature dog breeds include but are certainly not limited to Yorkshire Terriers, Poodles, Daschunds, Shih Tzus, Beagles, Chihuahuas, Pugs, Bichon Frises, Pomeranians and finally the Maltese.

One of the main reasons celebrities and everyone else has picked up on the trend of owning a smaller dog is the fact that they are so easy to transport and own! All of the breeds listed above are extremely even-tempered, get along with everyone and are just all around fantastic animals to have. There are however, a few things that you will need to be sure of when you are looking into purchasing a smaller dog. For one, you need to be sure to keep them in clothing at all times. While Paris Hilton may spend thousands of dollars on clothing for her pooches, that is not necessary – a few simple sweaters and coats will do.

The reason for the clothing is because, unlike larger dogs, mini dogs do not retain a lot of body fat and therefore they can freeze themselves to death a heck of a lot easier than larger dogs. When you are looking for your pooch’s clothes, there are a few points to remember:

a. You do not need to buy them expensive clothing – sale racks are fantastic for dog clothes!
b. Get something warm! Many new owners first mistake is they buy fashionable clothing rather than clothing that will actually keep their furry friend warm.
c. Have fun with it! Put some personality into the clothing you choose – while it is not all about looks, why not make your pet look fantastic?
